Legal notice

Introduction

Welcome to June November. This Legal Notice sets out the terms on which we sell our products, how we look after your personal information, and your rights as a customer. By using our website or placing an order with us, you agree to the terms set out in this notice.

This notice covers four areas:

  • Who we are and how to contact us
  • Terms and conditions of sale
  • Returns, refunds and exchanges
  • Shipping and delivery
  • Privacy and how we use your data

Nothing in this notice reduces your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

2. Terms and conditions of sale

Eligibility

To place an order with us, you must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a legally binding contract.

Our products

We take care to describe and photograph our products accurately. Colours may appear slightly different depending on your screen, and small variations in fabric, finish and measurement are normal, particularly for handcrafted and made-to-measure items. These variations are not faults.

Made-to-measure and customised items are produced to the measurements and specifications you provide. It is your responsibility to give us accurate measurements. As explained below, made-to-measure items cannot be cancelled or returned unless they are faulty or not as described.

Pricing and payment

All prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and are correct at the time of display. We may change prices at any time, but changes will not affect orders we have already accepted. Delivery charges, where they apply, are shown at checkout before you pay.

Payment is taken at the time you place your order, through our secure payment providers. Orders are not processed until payment has been received in full.

If we discover a pricing error after you have ordered, we will contact you to ask whether you wish to continue at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

How a contract is formed

When you place an order, you will receive an email confirming we have received it. This is not yet acceptance of your order. A contract between you and June November is formed only when we send you an email confirming that your order has been dispatched. If we are unable to fulfil your order, we will let you know and provide a full refund.

Use of our website

You agree not to use our website unlawfully, not to attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, and not to copy, reproduce or misuse our content. All content on this website, including text, images, designs and logos, belongs to June November or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law.

Our liability

We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses, as our products are supplied for personal and domestic use. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control. If such an event occurs, we will contact you and take reasonable steps to limit any delay.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.

3. Returns, refunds and exchanges

Your 14-day right to cancel (standard items)

If you are a consumer, you have the right to cancel an order for standard, ready-to-wear items within 14 days of receiving them, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

To cancel, email us within the 14-day period and let us know. You then have a further 14 days to return the item to us.

Made-to-measure and customised items

The 14-day cancellation right does not apply to items that are made to measure, personalised or customised to your specifications. Because these are produced specifically for you, they cannot be cancelled, returned or exchanged once production has begun, unless they are faulty or not as described. Please check your measurements carefully before ordering.

Condition of returned items

To be accepted, returned items must be unworn, unwashed and undamaged, with all original tags and packaging attached, and in a resaleable condition. We may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to check the item, in the same way you would in a shop.

How to return an item

  • Email us at the address above to tell us you wish to return or cancel.
  • Pack the item securely with its tags and original packaging.
  • Send it to the return address we provide, ideally using a tracked service. The item remains your responsibility until it reaches us.

Unless the item is faulty or not as described, you are responsible for the cost of returning it.

Refunds

Once we receive and inspect your return, we will let you know whether your refund has been approved. Approved refunds are made to your original payment method.

5–10 business days of receiving your return

For cancellations under the 14-day right, we will refund the price of the item and the standard outbound delivery cost. We may withhold the refund until we have received the item back or you have provided proof of return.

Exchanges

We do not offer direct exchanges — please return for a refund and place a new order

Faulty, damaged or incorrect items

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if an item is faulty, damaged on arrival or not as described, you are entitled to a remedy. If you tell us within 30 days of receiving it, you may be entitled to a full refund. After 30 days, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement. This applies to all items, including made-to-measure items. Please email us with your order number and clear photographs of the issue, and we will put it right. We will cover reasonable return costs for faulty items.

4. Shipping and delivery

Order processing

We process orders as quickly as we can. Made-to-measure items take longer to prepare than ready-to-wear items, as each is crafted to order.

Ready-to-wear orders are dispatched within 5-7 business days. Made-to-measure orders are crafted and dispatched within 2–3 weeks.

Where we ship

We ship across the United Kingdom and to selected international destinations.

We ship worldwide

Delivery times and charges

Estimated delivery times, once dispatched, and our delivery charges are as follows:

UK standard: 5-7 business days, £12.99. Free UK delivery on orders over £250. International: 7–14 business days, from £19.99.

Delivery times are estimates provided by our courier partners and may be affected by factors outside our control, such as customs processing, weather or peak periods. Where a tracked service is used, we will email you tracking details once your order has been dispatched.

Customs, duties and import taxes (international orders)

International orders may be subject to import duties, taxes and customs fees charged by the destination country. These are set by the destination country and are the customer’s responsibility. They are not included in the price of your order or in our delivery charge. Please check your local customs rules before ordering. If a parcel is refused or returned because import charges were not paid, we may deduct the cost of return shipping from any refund.

Failed deliveries and incorrect addresses

Please make sure your delivery address is complete and correct at checkout. We cannot be responsible for orders sent to an address you have entered incorrectly. If a parcel is returned to us because it could not be delivered, we will contact you to arrange redelivery, which may incur a further delivery charge.

Risk and ownership

Responsibility for the goods passes to you once they are delivered to the address you provided.

5. Privacy and your personal data

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are the “data controller” for the personal information we collect about you.

What we collect

  • Identity and contact details: name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number.
  • Order information: items purchased, order value, order history and, where relevant, body measurements for made-to-measure items.
  • Payment information: processed securely by our payment providers. We do not store full card details on our systems.
  • Account information: if you create an account, your login details and saved preferences.
  • Communications: messages you send us by email, contact form or social media.
  • Technical and usage data: IP address, browser, device and how you use our website, collected through cookies.

How we use it

  • To process and fulfil your orders, including made-to-measure items, and take payment.
  • To communicate with you about your order, delivery and any returns.
  • To provide customer support and respond to enquiries.
  • To manage your account, where you have one.
  • To send marketing communications, where you have agreed to receive them.
  • To improve our website, products and service, and keep our site secure.
  • To meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations, and prevent fraud.

Our legal bases

We use your data on one of these legal bases under UK GDPR: contract (to fulfil your order), legal obligation (to keep tax and accounting records), consent (for marketing and non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time), and legitimate interests (to run, protect and improve our business, where your rights do not override those interests).

Marketing

We will only send marketing emails if you have asked us to or opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email or by contacting us. Unsubscribing does not stop service messages about an order you have placed.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run our business: Shopify (which hosts our store), payment providers, delivery and courier partners, email, marketing and analytics providers where used, and professional advisers such as accountants. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to. Some providers may process data outside the UK; where that happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK-approved contractual clauses.

How long we keep your data

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary. Order and transaction records are kept for at least six years to meet UK tax and accounting requirements. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe. Account data is kept while your account is active.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to be informed about how your data is used, to access a copy of your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to processing, and to request data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address above. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, remember your basket and preferences, and understand how the site is used. Essential cookies are always on. Non-essential cookies, including analytics and marketing cookies, are only used with your consent, which you can manage or withdraw through your browser settings or any cookie banner on our site.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Our website and products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us so we can remove it.

6. Changes to this Legal Notice

We may update this Legal Notice from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the version published on our website at the time you place it. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date.

This Legal Notice is a template based on standard UK consumer and data protection law and does not constitute legal advice. June November is responsible for ensuring the published notice is accurate and complete for its business.
